Theoretical part of the Safe Shooter course includes a theory test, completion of which allows the participant to take the practical exam. The theoretical section covers the rules of the sport with a specific focus on regulations related to safety.
Eligibility to participate in the Safe Shooter course requires the participant to be a member of a shooting club affiliated with the Finnish Shooting Sports Federation (SAL).
After successfully passing the theory test, a practical shooting test must still be completed. The prerequisites for participating in the practical shooting test are:
-> you have successfully completed the theoretical part
-> you are a member of a shooting club under SAL. If you are not a SAL member, join a suitable shooting club and inform which club you joined. ATC Shooters is one option. To apply for membership with ATC Shooters, send an email to atcshooters@gmail.com and specify which disciplines you wish to participate in (IPSC, SRA).
-> you have a valid SAL hobbyist or competition license
Additionally, we recommend that you have some shooting experience with handguns. For example, ATC's Blue and Black Card courses provide a good foundation for completing the practical shooting test.
For more information on obtaining a license, you can refer to SAL's website: http://www.ampumaurheiluliitto.fi/liitto/lisenssit-ja-vakuutukset/osta-lisenssi/
Those who successfully complete the course and the shooting test will be reported to SAL's Safe Shooter list by a specified date agreed upon during the course.
The theoretical lectures of the intensive courses focus especially on the rules, and all foundational knowledge acquisition as well as introduction to the discipline will remain the students' assignments, using the provided materials and links!
