A magnifier is a monocular designed to be used in conjunction with a reflex sight. It enables more precise aiming at longer distances than what is possible with the naked eye. They often come with a quick-detach flip-to-side mount, allowing for rapid deployment and quick detachment when the magnifier is not needed. The magnifier can often be flipped to either side by reversing the mount. It doesn’t affect the sight's zero. The magnifier's eyepiece features +/- adjustments for the eye, allowing even those with vision errors to see the dot clearly. In Holosun's reflex sight selection, some sights have reticles with pre-determined points for distance compensation. With a magnifier, these become more useful when aiming at longer distances becomes easier.
Magnifiers can be used interchangeably between different brands. For example, with an Aimpoint red dot, you do not need to purchase an Aimpoint magnifier specifically; a Holosun could work just as well. The important factor is that the magnifier is at the same height relative to the reflex sight. Magnifiers and reflex sights come with various height spacers or risers that align the sight line on the same level.
