Hunting:
- For moose hunting, a general-purpose scope is recommended depending on the terrain. Shooting distances can vary greatly depending on the terrain and shooting ability. A magnification of 2-12x50 or 1.7-10x42 will certainly cover all needs, but 1-6x24 is likely suitable for many, especially since hunts typically take place in daylight.
- For bird hunting, a higher magnification is recommended for longer distances, e.g., 2-12x50 or 2.5-15x56.
- For stalking hunts, it is advisable to choose a bright and often slightly higher quality scope to maintain visibility in dim light. It's worth testing these and seeing the differences for yourself!
Tactical Shooting / Sport Shooting / Precision Shooting:
- For SRA (Finnish action shooting) and practical use, a scope is often a suitable option. Shooting distances vary, but primarily everything is handled with at least 8x magnification. The 1-8x24 model is the most popular.
- For close quarters, consider an alternative red dot sight if the magnification is set high and a temporary target appears nearby.
- Precision shooting and benchrest shooting require the highest magnifications and most demanding features.
