The SRA course is organized by ATC Shooters ry. Members from other associations and individuals who are not yet members of an association under RESUL are also welcome to participate in the course.
A prerequisite for participating in the course at the latest during the shooting phase is membership in any association of the Reservists Sports Federation (RESUL) or membership in an approved collaborating organization. You can apply for membership in ATC Shooters by sending an email to atcshooters@gmail.com and indicating which sports you wish to pursue. RESUL's members include:
Reservists' League (RES)
Finnish Reservist Officers' Association
Association of National Defense Clubs (MPKL)
The course includes theoretical instruction, a theory exam, and one attempt at a shooting test. The rules for applied reservist shooting can be found here: SRA_Rules_8_1.docx (resul.fi)
It is advisable to familiarize yourself with the rules in advance. The theory exam will be conducted electronically whenever possible, so please reserve an appropriate device for it. It is also recommended to bring note-taking materials and the rules or a device to view the rules during the theory exam.
After passing the theory exam, the shooter will be notified of the date on which they can participate in the shooting test at ATC. The shooting test can also be conducted under the supervision of any other SRA judge (please send a copy of the test evidence to jyvaskyla(at)aawee.fi). It is not possible to complete the shooting test concurrently with the theory portion. The shooting test must be completed within one year of passing the theory exam. A prerequisite for participating in the shooting test is either a Reservists' Action Safety Insurance or a SAL recreational or competitive license. Generally, you may only attempt the shooting test once on the same day, but if scheduling permits, you may attempt a retake at your own expense for a fee of 45€. There is no separate charge for the rental equipment, but there is an additional cost of 25€ for cartridges used on the range. Using your own equipment and cartridges is permitted as long as the cartridges are non-toxic and intended for indoor use.
It is advisable to have some experience in practical pistol shooting for the shooting test. Basic shooting knowledge can be gained, for example, during ATC's introductory sessions, Blue Card - Basic Pistol Shooting Course, or supervised range sessions. Practical shooting fundamentals can be learned in the Practical Pistol Shooting 1 course or the Black Card - Basic Practical Pistol Shooting Course. ATC also offers coaching for practical pistol shooting at a rate of 188€/hour (this fee includes solely the coaching and the rental of the entire range; coaching can be booked for multiple individuals at the same time).
About a week before the course date, an email will be sent containing detailed instructions and the precise location of the course. NOTE: This email may go directly to your spam folder, so please check if you do not receive it.
Those who successfully pass the shooting and theory tests will be notified electronically to RESUL, after which the shooter will be eligible to participate in SRA competitions and training.
After passing the theory test and shooting test, RESUL will send a 30€ registration invoice to the shooter.
