Holosun red dot sights
Holosun sights, models and features
Holosun is a very versatile and innovative manufacturer that has brought a lot of new things to the red dot market in recent years. It has quickly grown into one of the most popular brands and is already challenging the market leaders with its good price-quality ratio. The sights are light, durable, optically of high quality and have a long battery life.
In the case of Holosun, we can't talk about only red dot sights either, because sights are available with a green and gold aiming pattern in addition to a red dot. A gold-colored dot is more suitable for colorblind people than a red or green dot. In addition, different colors appear differently in different conditions. For example, green light can be seen better than red in bright light, and it also consumes less power at bright settings. Holosun's collection is extensive, so here we present the different model series and their features.
Holosun micro red dots
These tubular sights with a closed structure use the same foot solution as Aimpoint's Micro series sights, where the advantage is the good availability of various aftermarket mounts. The closed red dot has a front lens onto which the light point is reflected and, in addition, another lens at the back to protect the scope's components from the effects of the environment. Examples of models: HS403B, HS403C, HS503G, HS503CU.
Open reflex sights
Open models have only one lens onto which the light point is projected. They are tubular sights more susceptible to environmental influences such as snow and rain, but offer a wider field of view. These sights are available in small models designed for pistol use and larger models intended for rifle and shotgun use. Small sights are also well suited as auxiliary sights for a rifle, for example alongside a scope. Examples of models: HS407C, HS407K, HS507C, HS507K, HE508T, HS510C.
Closed reflex sights
Holosun also offers its light spot sights equipped with a large lens as a closed model. Specially designed for AR, AK and PCC rifles. They are also available in models intended for pistol use and in larger models suitable for long guns. Examples of models: HE509T, AEMS, AEMS Core, HS512C.
Magnifiers
A magnifier is a monocular that is intended to be used together with a spotting scope. It enables more accurate aiming at longer distances than is possible with the naked eye with a light point sight. The Holosun magnifier is equipped with a fixed 3X magnification. It has a quick-attach stand that can be turned to the side, which allows the magnifier to be used quickly and, accordingly, to be quickly moved to the side when the magnifier is not needed. It is possible to turn the magnifier to both sides by turning the attachment in the opposite direction. The magnifier does not affect the aiming of the scope. The eyepiece of the magnifier has +/- corrections for the eye, so even those suffering from refractive errors can see the point clearly. Holosun's selection of light dot sights includes some sights in which the sight pattern has advance points intended for distance compensation. With a magnifier, you get the most out of them, when aiming at longer distances becomes easier. Model numbers: HM3X and HM3XT.
Features of Holosun sights:
M.R.S. (Multi-Reticle System)
In the scope, you can choose either a 2 MOA dot, a 65 MOA ring or a combination of them as a pattern. In models intended for pistol use (e.g. HS507C, HS509T) the size of the ring is 32 MOA. The 400-Series sights do not have this technology, instead the sight pattern is just a dot. From the 500 series M.R.S. can be found.
Solar Failsafe™
Solar Failsafe™ is a photocell that enables the sight to be used even without a battery, as long as there is enough ambient light available. The photocell also reduces battery consumption and enables automatic adjustment of the light according to the ambient lighting conditions. In addition to the photocell, the scopes also have a battery and the brightness of the dot can also be adjusted manually. This feature is marked in the product number with the letter C. E.g. HS510C.
Shake Awake™
Shake Awake™ is a function that turns off the scope after a certain time, when the scope has been in place for a long enough time with the power on. When the sight is moved, the light turns on again. This technology saves battery. In the newer X2 series models, an innovative locking setting has been added to the Shake Awake features, which is an addition to the automatic and manual setting. (Only Solar Failsafe models have Automatic setting). With the lock setting, the keys are locked, preventing accidental changing of the settings.
Super Led
In Holosu's sights, the light spot is produced with the help of a powerful LED bulb. This allows for a wide range of different sight pattern brightness settings, suitable from the darkness of night to the brightness of midday. DL = DayLights modes and NV = NightVision modes. It also enables the use of different colored sight patterns, which is useful for those who suffer from astigmatism or color blindness, for example.
Multilayer Coatings
This means multi-coated lenses. Lens coatings can reduce reflections and increase the light transmission of the lens, as well as prevent scratching. Multi-film coatings are beneficial in the form of a better and brighter image.
Titanium
Holosun uses titanium in the frames of some of their sights. Titanium is a light and durable material, but more expensive than the more commonly used aluminum. The titanium-framed sights are particularly durable to take on even the most demanding environmental conditions. Holosun sights are mainly made of machined strong aluminum or titanium. Titanium models can be found in some of the names directly marked with the letter T, e.g. "HE509T".
